Do Not Let Your Blinds Defeat You by Cleaning Them Quickly and Easily

Are your allergies over the dust and dirt that accumulate on your apartment’s window blinds? Even if you routinely wipe down your blinds on a daily – or even weekly – basis, you might often find yourself staring at dirty ones – with little willpower to tackle them. Stop putting off this crucial cleaning task and check out these smart cleaning tips!

First, you will need to remove the blinds from your window, so that you may appropriately clean every nook and cranny. If the weather is fair, cleaning your blinds outdoors is a great approach. Wipe the blinds with one-part water and one-part ammonia. If you don't like to use ammonia, you can also use a foaming bathroom cleaning spray.

After you have applied your cleaner of choice, let the blinds sit for about five minutes before rinsing off with a hose. Wipe down the surfaces to be sure all the grime is removed. If not, you can repeat the process. When you have cleaned one side, you'll want to turn the blinds over and clean the other side as well.

If you are tackling the job indoors, you will need to do this in your bathtub. Use the same treatment of ammonia and water, letting the freshly washed blinds sit for about five minutes in your tub. Then, either uses a shower attachment to rinse them or fill your tub with enough water to thoroughly rinse the blinds.

Let your blinds dry completely before hanging them again. You can hang them over a clothesline, shower curtain rod, or railing. Once you've rehung them, take an anti-static dryer sheet and rub down both sides of your blinds. This will help prevent dust buildup in the future.
